Do you believe in signs or science?

Our world is full of engineering techniques, medical sciences, technological advancements and innovations. There are landmarks of achievements we have seen and experienced and personally would say science has proffered solutions to great number of problems.

No doubt, science has contributed to the immense results in curbing disease, tackling abnormal health issues, producing vaccine, performing surgeries, constructing buildings, roads, cars and bridges.

Yet in all these things, there are things beyond science and will certainly remain so. Signs are greater than science.

Isaiah 8:18 says, “Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me ! We are for signs and wonders ………”

The signs and wonders of God means the miraculous, testimonies, wondrous works, manifestations and good works of God.

The truth is that a lot of people believe in science more than the signs and wonders of God. There are medical issues, health issues, spiritual issues, behavioural issues, lifestyle issues, natural issues that science cannot solve. The rehab centre and constant medications don’t even have a solution to them.

Science has so much used their knowledge sometimes to turn away the hearts of many to believe they have what it takes to rescue man and have less believe in his Creator. I am not saying I don’t have confidence in some scientific solutions to some critical issues but they have limitations. It is earthly knowledge and whatever science could not ascertain they term it as terminal or incurable. In God’s dictionary those words don’t exist.

Don’t play dumb to the power of God, don’t be fooled by the daily pills, don’t be glued to those medical routines you have been confined to, don’t be deceived by the hopeless words of men. Connect to the wonder working ways of God. He is available. I know Him as a Great Healer, Great Redeemer, He is reliable. Go to God in prayer.

Try God on this and your life will never remain the same.

  1. No. I never believed science is bad. After all God gave us the wisdom to do amazing things in science.
What I was making clear was that scientists or science made people to believe wholly on science and not considering the science-giver – God.
Science is limited but God is unlimited. We need to look beyond science and focus on the spiritual things like God’s signs and wonders.
    Thank you for your thoughts.
    I love your points.

    Have a nice day.

  2. I know there’s something more than just science but I don’t think those are things which close the other one away. I think science could be given to us by God. God made us to wise and gave us to brains to use. It’s ment to be that we can create big things with our brains, things that will help us. So I don’t understand why someone believe that science is bad…

  3. I personally do use everything: as a medical writer I have to study lots of materials that have scientific proof. I use logically sound assessment of reality. I do take into account signs. I have a strong belief but that does not mean I am blindly following everything that somebody thinks is true.
I come from a very ancient culture which is Latvian, so I have to stick also to what my ancestors have discovered 2000, 3000 and more years ago. I am open to any divine discoveries as an artist while I am also somebody who can read people and signs. Well, our knowledge is very limited and our mind is somewhat limited, too, but that doesn’t mean one has to lock oneself up in a tiny self-created space where no fresh light shines in.
I think it’s time to distance ourselves from wrong advise and wrong purpose. Who, however, does that? Look how people are spending their life paying off mortgage or are ready to kill for a job or profit. The system prevents people from finding the true meaning in life.
Greed is such an evil thing. I personally do not assume that people who go at any means for huge profits are following God. They do not. They pretend being honest and faithful. That is straight the opposite to what we are supposed to do. While everything is managed by money and greed we are in trouble. I like some Christian programs until the point when they ask for money. As an artist and somebody who has some post-accident issues to deal with I can say that I have seen practically no support from people. From the God, yes, but most people are small-minded and I wish there was some kind of more real support for older people who are not retired yet, but soon will be. They are excluded from so many parts of life. I do get energy from nature and not that much from human relationships.

  4. Well, I believe in both science and signs. I don’t think they are mutually exclusive.
I came by to say thank you and introduce myself. You liked a comment I made on Chibueze’s blog. He wrote on technology which I am fascinated by as you saw from my comment. I blog about tech often. Think Sunday, for example, I am posting about 31 free tools for bloggers. Perhaps check it out. Thanks for the “like.”

    1. Thank you Janice. I believe in science but it is limited. The power of God can’t be compared. There are lots of problems science cannot solve but the signs and wonders of God is unlimited.

I will try to check your post.
Once more it’s a pleasure meeting you.

  7. 2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. Colossians 2:2,3,4
