Don’t you know you are a god?

I have travelled to some countries by the grace of God to preach the gospel of Christ either by invitation or by personal decision to minister the word of God with power and anointing, and to the glory of God people are still testifying how God used me to touch their lives.

There is one thing I noticed in my journey for Christ, people worship different gods, deities, idols, ancient goddess or ancestral spirits knowingly or unknowingly. It bothers me so much and I decided to open the eyes of those who are still living in ignorance under the so called bondage of these gods.

The truth is, you are a god, why worship another god? Why fear them? Why think they have power over you? Why shivering like they have control over your future. You don’t even know they are afraid of you. When you have the knowledge of who you are and rise up against them they succumb to the power in you because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Lions give birth to lions, elephants give birth to elephants, everything gives birth to its kind, so is God. God created us as gods, meaning, God gave birth to gods.

Psalm 82:6 says, “I said, “You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High” “.

God created us in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26). That means we are like Him, a god. Unbelievers don’t know they have power than the gods they worship. Mention the name of Jesus Christ and you will see the ancient gods powerless and confused. No wonder God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….” (Hosea 4:6, Isaiah 5:13). You sacrifice, pay homage and worship these gods or goddesses because you lack knowledge and so perish. You can be of God and still perish because you lack knowledge.

You are a god. God made you a god. You have to speak as a god. Act as a god, prophesy as a god, take dominion as a god, live as a god, decree as a god, be fearless as a god, write, preach, blog, draw, work, walk, see, move, pray, talk, behave, love and do everything as a god. Assume your god status.

God has given birth to you as a god. He created you as a god. Even the devil knows you are a god.

Oh sorry this is very wrong. We are but mere humans. We are most certainly not gods. Dont take it out of context. There is nothing god like about us. Were saved by grace. Through Jesus. Were children of God. Therr arent multiple Gods only one almighty God.

      Thanks for your contribution.
We are humans, yes I agree but we are spirits. There is godlikeness in us. God said in Genesis 1:26, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…”.
If we are created in His image and likeness it simply means we are a product of God. So whatsoever is of God is a god. There must be a resemblance of what you are created of.
Everything gives birth to its kind.
Saying we are gods does not mean I am overestimating or overexaggerating our existence, it is a simple ideology that we are lower gods created by a Higher God in His “image, likeness, resemblance”. It is not a context for us to exalt ourselves , it is a context of who we are in Him. We have only one true God but we can’t take away the fact that there are no other gods which people worship. Even those gods are created by God not for us to worship them, as He created the devil who was an archangel who rebelled and made man to worship him and other gods which God warned us against them.
God is Supreme, we are His creation, therefore, we are Godlike; little gods. Using the word “gods” does not mean we should be living in pride, no, it is a realisation of our existence in Him and His image in us.
Read Exodus 7:1. God said He made Moses a God to Pharaoh.

May our eyes be opened in Him.

      Thanks for reading. Bless you.

I have to disagree. We are made in Gods image, but God did not make “little gods” he made imperfect humans who are merely saved by grace. We are sinners who need repentance, & can only be saved through Jesus & not ourselves. By ourselves we have absolutely no power, no authority. Only God has it, the Son & the Holy Spirit. We only have any justification through Grace. We are only made in His image but never forget how truly insignificant we are without Jesus, our redeemer, Messiah, & Saviour. Amen. ❤

In the beginning it was not so. Adam was perfect during creation. Imperfection came when Adam sinned. Power, domininion, authority were the qualities of a god given to Adam until he relinquished it to the devil.
Jesus had to come to restore us to our God’s image and likeness which Adam lost. So by grace we are saved through Him.

We are not perfect by any means. The fact that Adam cannot save himself proves he is human. We by ourselves have no authority & no power. Adam, Eve & the rest of us all need forgiveness. We have no power or authority on our own. We need grace & we need God. We’re merely vessels. VESSELS.

Also understand this power is not our own. It is Gods. We by ourselves have absolutely, NO POWER, no authority over anything. We’re nothing, were dust. Were just vessels. Also God is a very jealous God, the One & only. He does not tolerate the belief in other gods. He would never create other gods this is simply a false teaching.

It is not a false teaching. Any revelation you don’t know is higher than you. Instead of criticising destructively, you simply allow wisdom to prevail.
The ultimate death of Jesus is for us to attain perfection by grace.

Be very careful here. It is one thing to be “godly” ie to follow God and be a Christ-like example. It is another to try to claim being a deity in and of yourself.

The powerful archangel Lucifer committed the sin of wanting to be God and be worshipped as a god. Isaiah describes how he fell from grace, was removed from Heaven, and became evil.

We speak, act and have mercy and forgive in response to Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection as God’s free plan of salvation. But we cannot and should not attempt to be God Himself. We can show others who God is and what He has done for us, by how we act and what we say in our dealings with each other.

I agree with georgetownrose who stated that the word ‘gods’ in Psalm 82 was referring to those who were acting as judges; perhaps they were getting carried away with thier authority and began thinking of themselves as being gods due to the power they found themselves weilding over people’s lives.

The psalmist Asaph also said in verse 6 and 7 of Psalm 82, “I said, you are ‘gods,’ you are sons of the Most High. But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.” This in context with verse 5 “They know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness,” tells me that these judges or people in authority were probably abusive in their power; its possible they were taking advantage of thier authority rather than seeing it as an important responsibility.

Showing people God and what Christ His only Son did for us is a serious responsibility, and a high calling, not a way to make us gods, but only godly in that we follow God’s call to mirror His grace, love and forgiveness. In humility we show Christ to others, rather than by becoming judgemental and attempting to elevate ourselves to godhood.

There is difference between god and God.
I am not assuming God-status, God forbid !!

The truth remains that we are born of the image and likeness of God, so we are gods. Your image looks exactly like you.

It was sin that made the devil to take over the earth from Adam.

Everything gives birth (born) to its kind. Saying I am a god does not mean I am higher than God, it simply means I originated from Him. Just like you are from your biological father who is a man which you are equally a man but your biological father is higher than you because he gave birth to you.

Let me show you what God said to Moses. I mean God said it clearly, in Exodus 7:1, , ‘So the Lord said to Moses: “See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh…… “.

The “God” there came with a capital letter ‘G’ and in some translations it came as small letter ‘g’. Check every Bible translation. Either way God is telling Moses that He had made him a god to Pharaoh.

God is not telling Moses that he (Moses) is now God but trying to tell Moses that he should act on behalf of Him and that he is a god. “As” in the verse means “like”, meaning, Moses must act as god to Pharaoh.

If God has made me a god who am I to say no.

You can’t be godly without acting as a god, the word ‘godly’ means having the fear of God, obedience to His ways and abiding by the grace of Christ. In doing so we are trying to come back to the way He made us (in His image), because in the beginning it was not so. Adam was perfect, sinless, righteous, holy, owned the whole world, controlled everything God created, took dominion, are they not the qualities of a god that God gave Adam? It was until Adam lost his perfection and dominion, that we needed to get back to that position by His grace.

Lucifer wanted to be worshipped as God not as a god. His pride made him to fall. I can’t assume to be God but I believe whatever that is born of God is like God and that is what the devil doesn’t want us to know. That was why the devil tempted Adam and Eve to disobey God so that God will take away His Spirit from them and be caused, losing their godly status.

May God continually open our eyes to know Him and know ourselves in Him.
      God bless you.

Thank you for visiting the site and for your appreciation of The Parable of the Good Samaritan.
I admit I did a double-take when I saw the title of your post “Do you know you are a god?” After reading your perspective, I investigated Psalm 82.6 in its context. The psalmist was disturbed with those in leadership–appointed judges–who perverted the heart of wise and honest judgment of the people in the land. The word “gods” in verses 1 and 6 is the word for “judges.” And those in authority to judge are appointed by God to their place of authority; as such, they are accountable to God and they are to be subject to His righteous laws in matters of judgment. Verse 1: “GOD stands in the congregation of the mighty (the judges); He judges among the gods (the judges). In the verses that follow, the psalmist pours out his lament about the perversion of judgment among those appointed to that place of ministry, until verses 6-8, where he warns them in their pride as “gods,” that although they may be children of the Most High, they are ONLY CHILDREN of the Most High; they will be humbled to the dust from where they were made by Him. Finally, he calls upon the God who judges the judges and the earth to rise, to make His authority known; for He shall inherit all nations.
This psalm is written about the leadership among the people of Asaph’s day, and Jesus echoed it in the woes He pronounced upon the leaders in the days of His first coming. I can also see a wider application to the lives of those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who belong to the Lord Jesus have agreed to surrender to His authority in their lives, and to bear the character and calling of His Kingship–everywhere they go in their dusty existence this side of Heaven. It is a royal calling, to be sure; but let them avoid thinking of themselves as either “powerful humans” or little “deities.” Those who belong to the Lord Jesus are called to consider their lives as “ministers of wise judgment” who, authorized by faith in Messiah Jesus and by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, now have the mind of Christ; having now the mind of Christ, they are commissioned to exercise in truthful, wise judgment in our earthen vessels, in a world system, where He is sovereign over all, and they mindful that they still can do nothing without Him.

“You are a god. God made you a god” : people are funny oh…… they seem to just think that God would create something that is not like unto himself, even when their scriptures tell them that they were created in the image and likeness of God….still they refuse to accept and hence all our problems in this world.

Yes, Jesus acknowledged it. He was actually trying to tell us that we are more than what we think we are.
It takes revelational knowledge to know we are gods.

You’re right my dear. Lack of knowledge makes us perish.
When we live in ignorance of who we are we move around like nobody. There is inherent power in us and until we understand it, nothing will change in us.

Have a great day. Thanks for your insight.
