Things about Christmas you don’t know.

Christmas has come and gone, I know some people are still basking in its euphoria. Some celebrated it religiously, some celebrated it by buying gifts, Christmas trees, visiting friends, having fun, some took it as a time for sober reflection, some have no business with Christmas, some attended church service on that day for the first time this year while some decided not to notice whether Christmas occurred or not. That’s OK but there are things you don’t actually know about Christmas.

Matthew 2:2 says, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him”.

How and why did the wise men travel a long distance with so much assurance of Jesus’ birth? It is because the wise men were sure of what they came for, they knew He is the King of the Jews, they came to worship Him. They knew Him by revelation and never doubted themselves. Even when they were unbelievers they knew what the believers never knew. Christmas means a time to be sure of who you are in Christ, a time to know Him and a time to worship Him by revelational knowledge.

The question is: how did they all know these things? The wise men are from Arabia and Arabians understand times and season like the sons of Issachar. I will show you. The wise men came from Arabia, Herod who wanted Jesus dead is from Arabia, the chief priests and scribes who Herod inquired of Jesus in Matthew 2:4 were from Arabia, Egypt as a nation which was where they took Jesus to migrated from Arabia, Balaam who prophesied about the Star of Jesus in Numbers 24:17 is from Arabia. Arabians are great scholars, they study books. Christmas means understanding the times and season of Christian life by studying the Scripture.

How did the wise men know what gifts to bring which was symbolic to Jesus’ life on earth? Gold means Jesus was rich from birth; meaning Jesus was a millionaire from birth. Gold was expensive as of that time. Frankincense means Jesus has a good smell of salvation. Myrrh means embalming Him with greatness even when His death wasn’t near. I want to let you know that the wise men were rich men who understood by prophetic studies that a gift makes a way for a man and brings him before great men (Proverbs 18:16). The Arab nation is very rich till today. Christmas means being rich and a time to show what you symbolize in Christ.

Why was Jesus born in Bethlehem? Bethlehem means house of bread. It means He was born into His mandate. Jesus is the Bread of life (John 6:33,35,48). He knows where the bread is and came to share it to us. The Spiritual Bread manifested in Him. Christmas means knowing the good Bread to eat. If you eat the wrong bread you lose eternal life.

Innocent babies were killed by Herod just because of Jesus, why? Before salvation will come somebody need to pay the price. Innocent blood were shed for an Innocent Blood of Jesus to live. Just like the apostles paid with their blood for the word of God to spread. Just like the blood of babies that was shed when Moses was born (Exodus 1:22). Christmas means understanding the Blood that was shed for you and for many (Matthew 26:28).

If you have celebrated Christmas without knowledge, then, I think you should celebrate it again with all sense of urgency and truth. Shalom.

  1. Beautiful and enlightening it is, Evangelist Chilavert Nmezi. Yes, gold points to Jesus’ riches, but not in millions, trillions or even the mind blowing centillions. Gold looks more majestic, therefore it’s because He will be KING! Frankincense, the way you put it, is eye opening added to the fact that it’s because the newly born Jesus will be a priest: our High Priest.

Nigroskitchen thinks that every living person sees the Word of God. He doesn’t know, I believe, that we still need the entire eternity to know this word of God for it is a Personage: God, the Eternal One Himself!

Does Christmas have Christ spelled somewhere in there? Then it’s time to celebrate what Christmas stands for: the birth, nay, the Incarnation of God, the Salviour; the soon coming King; the One who is, who was, and who is to come. Is this not an enigmatic Personage? I’ve done some didactic postings on Christmas. Hope you’ll go to my blog to see them? Thanks for liking my contribution on a post. More grace to your elbows, in the name of Jesus, our LORD. Amen.

  2. God’s word should never be a mystery in my opinion. It’s there to be understood. I hate it when others say things are a mystery because to me it just shows they lack understanding. For example, all this about Christmas, if you even did any research you would know Christmas was not celebrated by the original Jews, and that it has to do with worship of the return of the sun called saturnalia. If you don’t know that, what else is missing from your knowledge. Don’t mean to be brazen, but come on….at least gets get some truth out there.

    1. Thanks for reading a and replying.
Let me enlighten you my brother. God’s word is a mystery, it is not a history book, fable or a fabricated story cooked up from somewhere. It is not written through psychology or philosophy or by the wisdom of man.

The word of God is written through inspiration and revelation according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. That was why Moses wrote the Book of Genesis even when he was not there when God created Adam – that is a mystery.

You don’t read the Scriptures like literature, every verse of the Scripture is understood by revelational knowledge.

The Jews do not celebrate Christmas, that’s true. It has to do with the worship of the sun, that’s true also. I don’t expect them to celebrate Christmas because they didn’t believe in Christ so how will they celebrate who they don’t accept or believe. We believers don’t worship the return of the sun even if that was what they did. We worship the Creator not the created. We turned the sun worship into Christ worship. Celebrating my Saviour is worth it, for without Him I am nothing.

Researching the Scripture is good as it brings knowledge but without revelational knowledge of the Scripture you CANNOT understand it, that is is why it is a mystery. For the carnal man does not understand the things of the Spirit. The word of God is not something you read and understand just like that without the help of the Holy Spirit.

God is a mystery, His word is a mystery, everything visible or invisible is a mystery. Without discernment it is impossible to understand anything.

1 Corinthians 2:7 says, “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory..”

Verse 10 says, “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God”.

  3. You make some good points. But you are mistaken about some of the symbolism of the gifts of the Magi.

The gold was symbolic of Christ’s kingship. It was by no means an indication of His wealth in a worldly sense. Frankincense was an acknowledgment of Christ’s holiness, and a symbol of His willingness to become a sacrifice for our sakes. Myrrh, as you’ve suggested, was a symbol of bitterness and suffering — prefiguring Christ’s death on the cross.

Undoubtedly, the Magi’s knowledge was the result of diligent study. Some believe the Magi were the descendants of those magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and Chaldeans in the court of Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2: 2). If so, the knowledge Daniel shared about a coming Messiah may have been preserved — influencing their response to the star, generations later.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you so much for your contribution. It was awesome.

Please, let me enlighten you further:
Gold represents a lot of things. Even if it represents His kingship, His kingship was not a poor one. In the streets of Heaven in the Book of Revelation says that it is decorated with gold and ornaments which we cannot describe. Gold is costly and never cheap. It shows He has control of both spiritual and physical wealth. Secondly, saying Jesus was a millionaire was not wrong because the gold was quantified by historical equivalence to be $10,000,000 today. Again, I don’t think Jesus was poor because we don’t serve a poor God. It does not mean He came for worldly wealth. Remember, Jesus equally told His disciples to get money from the mouth of a fish.

Frankincense in the Hebrew language is a perfume or oil of fragrance. In Hebrew it is used in making the body refreshed. It’s symbolic meaning may differ from person to person but it simply means He is anointed to exchange our sinful nature for us to be refreshed by His power.

Myrrh in Hebrew is a liquid, an intoxicant, which is put into wine to make it bitter which was given to Jesus on the cross. Myrrh is also used for embalmment which was used on Him when He died.

I appreciate your words. Wishing you the best of the new year. God bless you.

    1. I was equally born a Catholic but there are certain things that I never knew until I found a new faith in Christ. I left Catholic to become a Pentecostal pastor and the Lord open my eyes to a lot of things.
There are things you will not know until you step aside.
Continue reading. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you.
Thanks for your time and confidence.
      God bless you.

  4. Yes I agree with you evangelist chilavert nmezi, the True Meaning of Christmas needs to be remembered and Celebrated, giving Thanks to The Lord for the greatest Gift ever received, Jesus Christ.

You said in reference to the Wise Men; that Even when they were unbelievers they knew what the believers never knew.

They could not have been unbelievers meaning without Faith, Satan does not know God’s Truth, it is empowered by The Holy Spirit not the Carnal flesh, their Wisdom was from God the same as other Old Testament Saints, such as Noah, Abraham, Moses and King Solomon etc. Unbelievers cannot know God’s Truth as we see confirmed in the Scripture below and we cannot ask for God’s Wisdom if we don’t believe in Him….

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written; Eye hath not seen nor ear heard neither have entered into the heart of Man the things which God hath prepared for them that Love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit for the Spirit searcheth all things yea the deep things of God. For what Man knoweth the things of a Man save the spirit of Man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no Man but the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world but the Spirit which is of God that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak not in the words which Man’s wisdom teacheth but which the Holy Ghost Teacheth, comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the Natural Man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things yet he himself is judged of no Man. For who hath known the Mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? but we have the Mind of Christ.

    1. Thank you so much for your insight and the words of the Spirit.
Remember we were unbelievers before we came into His marvellous light. The wise men were not actually “wise” until they came in contact with the Light which is Jesus. The Scripture called them “wise” because they obeyed God and embraced the Truth. The Scripture only told us they got to know that Jesus was born just by the appearance of the Star. Biblical chronicles proved they were either star gazers, astrologers or magicians but when revelational knowledge of Christ was revealed to them they became a witness to His birth. Remember they began to have revelations after visiting Jesus. They had a dream not to go back to Herod.
They didn’t just come to visit Christ, they came to submit to Him because they discovered that whatever they submitted to before, was not greater than Jesus. They actually came to give their lives to Christ.

Thank you for your time. Wishing you a prosperous new year.

    2. Yes as I shared evangelist chilavert nmezi they believed and also had God’s Wisdom regardless of what they were before or they would not have followed Jesus’ Star or obeyed God in not going back to Herod.

The Old Testament Scriptures and yes some in the New Testament refer to God’s Wisdom which none of us were Born with which is the same as The Holy Spirit. Jesus tells us to Ask, Seek and Knock so we do not just wait to be sapped, for more detail I will leave a link for you. We remember too King Solomon although later disobedient asked for God’s Wisdom which pleased God, we need to do the same or we will not have His Understanding only worldly Man’s.

  5. Reblogged this on Sherline's Watchu Thinkin' Blog and commented:
Evangelist Chilavert adds so much to our understanding of Christmas that it is worth sharing here on my blog. Many things he says in this post brought me deeper insight about the significance of Christmas that we don’t really dwell on that much during the season. I pray that this post blesses you today. God Bless Everybody 😀
