Those who criticize you publicize you.

People who are growing in God all share one common trait; they attract criticism. Criticism is a compliment when you are doing what you know you are supposed to do right. I was reading a cover story on Billy Graham in Time Magazine and was not surprised to find out several criticisms of him from fellow ministers. Then I was reminded of the fact: all great people get great criticism. Learn to accept and expect that you will experience unjust and just critisms for your God-given goals and accomplishments.

If you are doing anything and you are not criticized check yourself, something is wrong somewhere. No matter how you do good, help people, relate in love, preach or work tirelessly in your company you must be criticized. Everybody can’t be happy with you and if you don’t know how to handle criticisms you will miss the mark. If you know how to handle criticisms then you make them to publicize you.

In Matthew 10: 25, Jesus said to His disciples, “……… If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household”.

Jesus was mocked, criticized, gossiped and slandered. They twisted the miracles of Jesus, they published fake news against Him, the Pharisees condemned His good deeds, the scribes posted unfounded stories just to sale their tabloids. There was too much propaganda against Him. Yet in all those things, the more they criticized Him the more they publicized Him.

You do the work of God with diligence they criticize you. You come to work early to make sure you do a good job they criticize you. You distance yourself from bad friends they make jest of you. You win an award they castigate you. Your blog brings you to limelight they drag your name to the mud. You win souls for Christ they ridicule you. There is nothing on earth that is not criticized be it good or bad. So why waste your time replying critics? They enjoy it when you start exchanging words with them.

It is beneficial to receive constructive critism from those who have your best interest at heart, but you are not responsible to respond to those who don’t. It is a thousand times easier to criticize than create. That’s why critics are never problem solvers. Don’t waste your time responding to your critics because you owe them nothing.

When they criticize you they publicize you. When they publicize you they can no longer minimize you.

You are right: we will be criticised if we are doing something good.

I can recall facing countless criticisms when I started my blog. I am glad I didn’t quit. Thanks for sharing.

Critics are bound to be there. We can only smile at their criticisms and get going.
It’s good you never quitted. More grace to you.

This is so true!! I recall when I was on my job I would get a lot of criticize. I didn’t enjoy it as I do now. LOL LOL I understand more clear now that I had to ask God to help me to understand why people were doing such thing toward me then. He showed me through His word as I read ((All)) that they had done toward Him, and spoken against Him. He was Sinless never done anything evil nor spoke evil toward anyone. He Only spoke and showed the Truth in LOVE. Bless you for sharing this message with us all. He Loves Me!! and I Love Him as well. I Love because He speaks of Truth. He doesn’t want anyone to go to Hell!! It is a choice not a force. Amen!! Amen!! \0/\0/

Critism is part of life. Constructive criticism is good though but destructive criticism is one which we need to handle effectively in our daily lives in Christ. If not carefully handled can make one demoralised in walking with God.

Thanks so much for your contribution. It’s great having you on board.

You’re right! Dr. Charles F. Stanley of In Touch Ministries taught me that you can even learn from those who hate you. Listen for the nuggets that ring true and thank them for their interest in you. If you can look past their fault, you may see someone hurting, paradoxically looking for someone to love them.

One has to have a thick sin. One sad thing l have come to notice is that for those who easily crumble under criticism, their usefulness can easily come to an end when they lose focus. I am all for the publicity perspective. Ride on criticism to victory.

Well done! As an ordained deacon, I have seen it necessary to, on occasion, spotlight improper behavior and call it what it is, even if it means making people angry. If we preach God’s truth and get no reaction at all, good or hostile, we haven’t taken enough of a risk with our words. If we hold to the truth, we may be criticized, but the truth wins out in the end. God bless– Mike

    very true message.
yesterday I watched a video by one of my favorite youtube artists, Alex Clark (he makes cartoons)

and he said, “I get a lot of messages from viewers who want to start a channel or go public with their art, but are afraid of bullies. I have something to say, and it’s not “it gets better” – I get bullied too.”

And then he went on to read some of his hate comments.

I think God created bullies to keep us on our toes. When we are hated upon we have the choice; react, change, or just revel in the free publicity.

It seems the deeper we press into the culture with the Word of God, with Jesus Christ, the more likely we are to draw criticism.

Yes, Christ was criticized. We are His followers, so we must expect criticisms also. The work of God attracts heavy criticisms but we shouldn’t be deterred by them.
The more they criticize you the more they fulfil your call unknowingly.

      Bless you my dear.

I have had my own experience of unfair criticisms and I agree with you that people criticise you when you are doing great.

I remember when I started this blog, I faced alot of negative criticisms from some people around me then. Although I felt hurt initially, I was able to overcome as time went on.

They had thought I would give up on the blog, but now I’m having the last laugh. Thank you for writing this post.

Great post! I was once told that if the devil is not trying to attack you, you are not doing God’s will. The devil will leave you alone when you are helping him, but will attack you when you are working for God. People will always try to criticize when you are doing God’s will, because many will follow the devil. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome blog! It really got me thinking. It can be a bit painful when criticism comes from your family. But you know what, it makes me pray even more for them because it shows how wounded they are, due to the words that come from their heart. Love your enemies, is what comes to mind. Thank you for the encouragement! May God’s Spirit lead you to write much more.

Haha. Any one in the group here could school you on your own religion. Most of us felt the way you feel now, but things don’t add up. None of it. Don’t be afraid to look around. None of it works and continually has to be propped up with excuses piled on even more excuses for the absence of god. If an explanation requires years of explaining, you’ve got the problem. Atheist ignorance? Hah.
