Everything God does is for a reason. Why didn’t God use the blood, flesh or any other part of Adam to make Eve? God took Adam’s rib, why? Eve was made of a rib out of the side of Adam, not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to stand by him, under his arm to be protected and near his heart to be loved.
Adam was created but Eve was made. Adam came from the dust but Eve came from the rib. The rib does not easily decay in the dust but the dust can be blown away. So the rib (Eve) is in the dust (Adam) to help him stand the test of time. If God goes to the dust again to make Eve it will make her equal to Adam in headship.
Genesis 2:21, “And the Lord caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place”.
In the medical world before an operation is carried out the doctor will inject the patient with a sedative to put the patient to sleep. That was exactly what God did. God is a Supreme Doctor, He never broke medical protocols. He took Adam to the theatre and injected him with a spiritual sedative. Adam slept, God performed a spiritual surgery on him, removed the rib and stitched his flesh. During the spiritual operation on Adam even when he was asleep he knew what was happening by revelation. That was why when he woke up he said, “This is now bone of my bones ………” (Genesis 2:23). He knew a bone was taken out of him.
I don’t buy the idea of, “what a man can do a woman can do better”. It is not scriptural. The woman came to life by the rib, meaning, she is made to strengthen the man when he is failing, lift him up when he is waxing cold and help him when he tries to stumble. In other words, I believe it should be, “what a man cannot do a woman can do”.
God had to take the rib from Adam in an exchange for something better. His rib was a sacrifice to have a partner. No love without sacrifice. God was teaching Adam that a rib can be transformed into his replica. The man gave birth to the woman before the woman had the ability to procreate.
The rib was the bride price of the marriage. God had to take it from him as a bond or covenant of the marriage. This is the reason marriage is sacred. If you don’t understand the mystery behind it you won’t value it. If you and your spouse is about calling it quits is high time you gave it a second thought.
In the marriage between Adam and Eve, Eden was the church. God, Christ and Holy Spirit were the witnesses while the angels were the guests. I pray your marriage will never lose its rib.
Marriage is for a lifetime but wedding is for a day. Never forget that.
Genesis 1 :27 please read this it tells you in God’s Word.

I love the way you explained this, it almost brought tears to my eyes. One of the things I love most about the story of creation is that I believe we are the only thing in creation that God used his hands to make and his breath to give life to. We have such an awesome God.

God Bless You for sharing this. I personally when I was of this world I had that mine set about “what a man can do a woman can do better”. You are right it is ((not)) Scripture. I didn’t know any better. Now that I know the ((Truth)) A Women we are to be a ((Help)) and not a destroyer. I like when you shared: “what a man cannot do a woman can do”. This is a blessing. I love this scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Amen!! Amen!! 🙂

I agree with you 100%: “What a man cannot do a woman can do”. My guess is that’s why God made us male and female. We complete one another. Great message, Pastor Nmezi! Sincerely, Nancy Ruegg (visiting here from Heidi Viars, Wings of Dawn)

People always clamor about love, love this love that. Love is the hardest, if love was easy, marriage would not take work. Love is a lifetime achievement through dedication and perseverance. God does the impossible, God loves all truly. We speak of love, but rarely ever practice love.

You’re right on that. God will certainly give us the courage to love. Bless you.

This piece about Eve Coming from the Rib of Adam was very thought provoking
I wish my ex man actually valued what he had for a wife. He was never satisfied with what he had and blamed others,
Marriage and it’s bond does not account for or allow for men to violate his wife, to hit or verbally and emotionally assault his wife. It should not be tolerated in the church and the church should support a woman that needs to leave.
Just as god took that rib From Adam he gave eve breathe of life, if that breath of life has been broken and injured than Adam should have paid the consequence not Eve.

Your points are quite good. You have a good mind by what you said.
“……. the church should support a woman that needs to leave”. I think caution, reconciliation, widom and prayers should be applied in this matter.
Thanks once again for writing your thoughts on this post. God bless you.

Actually, when you look at the Hebrew, you find that Adam was originally a hermaphrodite, and that God removed the female organs to create Eve:

Otherwise, very interesting insights.

But what if there is no god, which is what I believe. Then all that is just part of the fairy tales that make up the Bible.

If you read the bible, you know there are chosen people who went into captivity and the strangers who were adopted in because they believed in Him also. Then there are the strangers whos eyes have been blinded not to see him until the day of the Messiah’s return. On that day, you will see what you don’t see now and you will have 1000 years while he reigns on this earth to beg for his forgiveness and be drafted in. There is only a remnant of people that are chosen. Two thirds of his people are doomed to die also in that day. So, I hope thos comment helps you in some way. Shalom!

Beautiful post. Pure truth. The feminist mind set is pure evil. If you gather 100 women to build a boat and 100 men to build a boat, I guarantee only one boat would be standing in the waters. The women are most likely to help the men build their boat than build their own. Its Like that because of how we were created by the Father. All praises to our creator.
