Who kissed you?

A kiss means a lot of things to a lot of people depending on the culture and environment in which you find yourself. To some it means acceptance, to others it means oneness, greetings or a way of showing appreciation. A kiss may not be mouth to mouth but some it is, like the marital kiss. However, I am not talking about all those kisses in an immoral or moral affair. I am talking about a kiss of betrayal from Judas Iscariot to Jesus the Christ.

Hear this: Any time you give someone a kiss of betrayal you pass a death sentence to the person you betrayed. Why? Because if the person bretrayed is found guilty he faces a cruel judgement. That was what happened to Jesus.

Mark 14:44 says, “Now the betrayer had given them a signal, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; take Him and lead Him away safely””.

Immediately Judas kissed Jesus they arrested Him and that was His journey to the law court (Pilate) and later sentenced to death. Irrespective of the fact that He gave His life willingly but someone was instrumental to it. Judas kissed Jesus to notify the police (chief priests and the scribes) the actual person. There was a great facial resemblance between Jesus and His disciples so they needed a means of identification.

What I am trying to point out here is that in the midst of your co-workers, church, congregation, business associates, friends or family members anyone can betray you. So you have to learn how to deal with it before or after it happens.

It is not only Judas that betrayed Jesus, Peter also betrayed Him. The difference is that Peter repented but Judas killed himself. People are still betraying Jesus till today. When you are ashamed to preach Jesus, cheat, oppress the poor, pervert justice, commit fornication, immorality, create violence and still confess Christ in pretence, sit in front of the church in pretence, donate to the church in pretence, then, there is no difference between you and Judas. Judas is even better than you because he regretted his actions and returned the money (Matthew 27:5). He died before Jesus was crucified.

I don’t know how long you have been going through the torments of betrayal. Day and night you lose sleep because the person you gave a kiss of betrayal is languishing in prison, isolation or being subjected to inhumane treatment because of you. It’s time to tell the truth, it’s time for you to prove his or her innocence. If you are the one betrayed, then, it’s time to learn not to put all your trust in man.

I pray that every kiss of betrayal in your life will turn into a kiss of acceptance. Shalom.

Great message, especially in these days when tolerance for Christianity and Christians seem to be waning. But, God is good, and “writes straight with crooked lines.” We can always depend on Him.

Thank you. I just read someone’s testimony about weapons formed against you as in “no weapon formed against you shall prosper, no kingdom raised against you shall stand”… The Spirit is revealing to me the weapons I’ve formed against others with my thoughts/words of condemnation or judgement. Father, forgive me! Help me destroy those weapons as You destroy the weapons formed against me!

This is an eye-opening post for me. I have never considered this before, and we all should ask ourselves if we are guilty of betraying another? I am enjoying your posts.

Wonderful post Evangelist. I pray that if anyone is guilty of betraying an innocent person that they will repent before it is too late. There is a punishment for every unjust action. I look forward to your post. Have a blessed weekend.

Shalom? Are you Jewish? I was surprised to see you close with that greeting…peace to us.
I am accepting of it though, as I too sometimes say love and peace. Especially because I am considered an old hippie.
It is also unique how the last days played out for Jesus, and his disciples, not that he didn’t know what was coming. He did. But the others with him in those final days, and final hours did not. Thus the torment for Judas, enough to cause him to commit suicide. That is pretty remorseful…more than I’ve ever been.
Peter found strength through his betrayal, as it went exactly as Jesus had prophesied. Leaving only Thomas riding the fence until he witnessed the hands and feet.
I thank you for liking something I’ve said and something I’ve shared, and I will in kind, look further into your postings. I do not consider myself evangelical, however, I know of the tribulations Christians are going to go through in these last days, and pray for them and with them for their strength to withstand it. Even now I smile, looking forward to some of your sermons and experiences. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
God Bless you and keep you.

It’s a pleasure having you on my blog. I’m not Jewish. I am from Africa. Using Jewish language sometimes appeals to me.

Your additions are very correct. You elaborated on the tribulations of Christians and your prayer for them to have the strength to withstand. That’s kind of you.

I stumbled into your blog, it’s interesting. I have to read some messages. Where are you from?

      It’s good discussing with you.

I was born in Los Angeles in 1951, and lived the next 10 years of my life on a farm in Nebraska. After we left (ran from) my birth father, we returned to CA where I eventually enlisted in the service in 1970.
I’ve traveled the country extensively until 1990 when I moved to Utah.
I’m living here still, but was unemployed for 20 months and the boredom was killing me, strangling me. My friends suggested I blog, and I’ve been doing it for three months now.
There is an almost accidental meeting between several of us, but my spirit soars with delight from the pages everyone posts. Therefore I thank our Heavenly Father for providing you all to me.

I equally thank God for providing you for us to see your perspectives.
